Before You Begin
Thesis. Man is dust made alive by the breath of God — a living soul, whole and mortal (Gen. 2:7). Sin is not a guilt inherited at birth but the consented transgression of the law (1 John 3:4; Jas. 1:14-15); yet the fallen nature we do inherit corrupts and enslaves (Rom. 7:14; Eph. 2:3). Into that very flesh the Son of God came — the second Adam, bearing the full fallen nature of man after four thousand years of sin, yet without sin (Rom. 8:3; Heb. 2:14-17; 4:15) — conceived of the Spirit and living from the manger, by faith in His Father, the surrendered life we enter by the new birth of water and the Spirit (John 3:5). Salvation is God saving His people FROM their sins, not in them (Matt. 1:21): righteousness by faith — the gospel in verity, the third angel’s message in verity — both credits Christ’s obedience to the believer and works it in him, so that complete victory over sin is provided, promised, and expected (Rom. 6:14; 1 John 5:4; Jude 24; Rev. 3:21). That message ripens a last generation who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus (Rev. 14:12), stand through the time of trouble without a mediator because their sins have gone beforehand to judgment (Rev. 22:11; Dan. 12:1), and in whom the character of Christ is perfectly reproduced — the harvest that vindicates God before the universe (Mark 4:29; Rev. 14:1-5).
Method. After Haskell's Bible Handbook: ref → gloss, scannable; every doctrine established first from Scripture (Miller's Rule — the Bible defines its own terms), then corroborated by a central cloud of witnesses — E. J. Waggoner, A. T. Jones, S. N. Haskell, and Ellen G. White — quoted VERBATIM and verified against the corpus. This study argues the historic Adventist “last generation” understanding: full victory over sin through the indwelling Christ. On the nature of Christ it is careful and honest: He took our fallen NATURE, never our sin — nature is not guilt, and sin is in the consent — so no line may make Christ a sinner, and no line may give Him an unfallen-Adam advantage.
